About Us

Oz Trails is a task force assigned by the Osawatomie City Council focused on expanding the Flint Hills Nature Trail from its current access point 1 mile west of Osawatomie to within the Osawatomie city limits. The task force is creating and acting upon a plan that will not only expand the trail to town, but also create a functional trailhead with ample parking and necessary amenities.

By expanding the Flints Hills Nature Trail eastern terminus into Osawatomie, residents will enjoy easy access to the trail for walking, running, bicycling and horseback riding. Visitors can utilize the services and amenities Osawatomie has to offer whether using Osawatomie as their starting point, ending point or turnaround point.

The Osawatomie Trails Task Force is led by city councilman Dr. Jeff Walmann. Members include Doug Walker, Dr. Jeff Dorsett, Gary French, Hitomi Lamirande, Karen LaDuex and Dr. Kari Burchett. The task force is assisted by Mark Fuchs, George Pretz and Trent McCown.
